Chelsea playmaker and Spain international Cesc Fabregas has confirmed that he is to move to Monaco as he waits to find out when the deal can be completed.

On his official Instagram account, the departing Chelsea midfielder confirmed that he was excited to be joining Monaco, even if it is uncertain when he will make the move.

In response to a question from a fan who asked the 31-year-old if he is excited about moving to Monaco, the 2010 World Cup-winner said: “It’s exciting. Can’t wait.”

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is reluctant to let him leave before the Blues have found a replacement with the Spaniard currently tasked with providing cover for Jorginho.

However, Fabregas will leave Chelsea having won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup.

After what was believed to be his final appearance for the Blues in a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, his tally of games across all competitions for English clubs stands at 501 games.
